Stainless steel 304

Material type: Metal, Corrosion resistant, Chemical resistant, High strength, Heat resistant, Non-magnetic
Stainless steel 304 is the most common stainless steel. It is essentially non-magnetic steel and it is less electrically and thermally conductive than carbon steel. It is wildly used because it easily formed in various shapes. It is machinable and weldable.

Material advantages

It has good corrosion resistance, heat resistance, low temperature strength and mechanical properties, good hot workability, such as stamping and bending, no heat treatment hardening, and no magnetism.

Recommended description

Widely used for industrial purpose, furniture & decoration industry and food & medical industry.

Stainless steel 316/316L

Material type: Metal, Corrosion resistant, Chemical resistant, High strength, Heat resistant, Non-magnetic
The second most used stainless steel after 304, the general purpose austenitic stainless steel 316 has superior corrosion resistance particularly in chloride containing environments and good elevated temperature strength. The low carbon version 316L has even better corrosion resistance in welded structures.

Material advantages

SUS316 stainless steel has good plasticity, toughness, cold denaturation, and welding process performance. 316 has good high temperature strength, and 316L has poor high temperature performance, but its corrosion resistance is better than 316.

Recommended description

Stainless steel 316/316L has similar mechanical properties to 304, with higher corrosion and chemical resistance. Ideal for marine applications.

Stainless steel 303

Material type: Metal, Corrosion resistant, High strength, Heat resistant
Stainless steel 303 has excellent toughness, but lower corrosion resistance than 304. Ideal for high volumes, due to its excellent machinability.

Material advantages

SUS303 is austenitic free-cutting stainless, wear-resistant and burning-resistant steel with good machinability, burning and corrosion resistance.

Recommended description

Stainless steel 303 is used in applications that require parts to be heavily machined.

Stainless steel 430

Material type: Metal, Corrosion resistance, Magnetic
Stainless steel 430 is a non-hardenable steel containing straight chromium, and belongs to the ferritic group of steels. This steel is known for its good corrosion resistance and formability, coupled with practical mechanical properties. It can be used in certain chemical applications due to its resistance to nitric acid.

Material advantages

Low price, good workability, good stress corrosion resistance, typical non-heat treatment hardenable ferritic stainless steel; low thermal expansion rate, excellent oxidation resistance.

Recommended description

Stainless steel 430 is one of the most widely used “non-hardenable” stainless steels. It has good corrosion resistance, formability, ductility and is magnetic in all conditions. It is well suited in chemical applications due to its resistance to nitric attack and is a very popular choice for domestic appliances and decorative trim.

Stainless steel 201

Material type: Metal, Corrosion resistant, Chemical resistant, High strength, Heat resistant
Stainless steel 201, with certain acid and alkali resistance, high density, no bubbles, no pinholes, etc. It is a high-quality material for producing various case and strap bottom cover. Mainly used for decorative tubes, industrial tubes, some shallow stretched products.

Material advantages

It has good heat resistance, low temperature strength and mechanical properties, good hot workability, such as stamping and bending.

Material shortcomings

It tends to not be a good choice, however, for outdoor structural use, because it is susceptible to pitting and crevice corrosion from certain elements like salt water.
