Types
Stainless steel 201
Material type: Fiberglass laminate, Non-conductive, Strong, Lightweight, Chemical resistant
G-10 is a high-pressure fiberglass laminate made by stacking layers of glass cloth soaked in epoxy resin, compressed under heat. It is part of the FR-4 family but without flame-retardant additives. Known for its excellent strength, low moisture absorption, and electrical insulating properties, it is widely used in electronics, tools, and knife handles.
Material advantages
Excellent electrical insulating properties
High mechanical strength and impact resistance
Lightweight and moisture resistant
Easy to machine into precise shapes
Cost-effective compared to carbon fiber
Material shortcomings
Lower strength-to-weight ratio compared to carbon fiber
Can degrade under continuous UV exposure if not coated
Brittle under extreme impact loads
Lower heat resistance than advanced composites
